CB DOG PARK

The off-leash dog park at Mike Chappell park offers dogs (and their people) a safe place to socialize, exercise, and play. As the only year-round off-leash dog space in Carolina Beach, the dog park serves residents and visitors alike. Thanks to a joint initiative between Friends of the Carolina Beach Dog Park and the Parks & Recreation Department, the dog park saw massive improvements in 2021. It received new shade structures, benches, and picnic tables and took a step toward greater accessibility with a concrete entryway, path, and pad. Through financial support from the Island Arts Council volunteers added attention-grabbing pup portraits to the perimeter of the park and a community art installation of painted dog bones dedicated to the park’s many canine visitors. Finally, in early 2022 the town installed a dog play structure that gives the pups a place to practice their agility skills or cool off in the shade. These enhancements have made the park more popular than ever, and we aren’t done yet!

This year the Friends of the C, the Dog Park committee and the Carolina Beach Parks and Recreation Department are working to expand the park to include a new small dog area for our four-legged friends under 25 lbs. By creating a separate space for little dogs, resident dog-lovers aim to establish a safe space for smaller dogs to experience all the benefits of a dog park. You can help support this initiative by making a tax-deductible donation through Friends of Carolina Beach Parks and Greenways!

When you donate to the dog park you’re contributing to:
